How we work

Three things we will always do.

Agricultural recruitment depends on competence, calibration and continuity.

Vet before we send

Right-to-work, references, machinery tickets, NPTC and BASIS where relevant. Done before introduction.

Brief before we search

30-minute briefing call about the operation, the role and the must-haves. Written brief returned.

Stay close after the offer

Day-7, day-30 and day-90 follow-ups with both sides.

Services

The ten roles we place into UK farms and estates.

Permanent agricultural and rural staff for arable, dairy, livestock and estate operations.

Farm Workers

General farm hands, all-rounders for arable, livestock and mixed farms.

Agricultural Operations

Operations leads, farm managers, second-in-command for established operations.

Dairy Workers

Herdspersons, milking parlour staff, dairy assistants and youngstock leads.

Crop Production

Sprayers (PA1/PA2/PA6), tractor drivers, combine operators and harvest crew.

Agricultural Engineers

Mobile fitters, workshop technicians and ag engineers for kit and machinery.

Stock Persons

Beef, sheep and pig stock persons. Lambing crew and calving cover available.

Agricultural Drivers

HGV drivers (C/C+E) for grain, livestock haulage, slurry and feed deliveries.

Land-based Apprentices

L2 / L3 land-based service engineers, agriculture and horticulture apprentices.

Estate Workers

Gamekeepers, beat keepers, estate gardeners, ground staff and rural maintenance.

Rural Office Admin

Farm office administrators, BPS / SFI assistants and rural payroll coordinators.

Our process

From brief to first day, four steps.

Same approach for a herdsperson, a sprayer or a farm office administrator.

01

Take the brief

30 minutes about the operation, the kit and the team. Written brief returned for sign-off.

02

Search and vet

Approach the network and active candidates. Vet, interview, rank.

03

Offer support

Counter-offer pressure, notice-period coordination, accommodation logistics where relevant.

04

Aftercare

Day-7, day-30 and day-90 check-ins.

How an Agristan brief actually runs

Agricultural recruitment rewards the consultant who has spent time on a working farm. Seasons matter. Tickets matter. The shortlist has to be calibrated against the operation, not just the salary.

Calibration before search

If the band is below market for a herdsperson or sprayer in the region, we will say so before we start, not after the offer is rejected.

Vetted, ranked shortlist

Three to six candidates per brief, properly vetted, with our written notes. Right-to-work, references, machinery tickets and motivation are all checked before introduction.

Where we focus

Permanent placements only across UK farms, estates and rural businesses. We do not run harvest gangmaster desks and we do not place into food production factories.
